CURRENCY GUIDE
How Currency Conversion Works
Currency conversion is the process of calculating the value of an amount from one currency into another using an exchange rate.
What Is Currency Conversion?
Currency conversion means changing the value of an amount from one currency to another. For example, you may want to know how much 100 US dollars is worth in Pakistani rupees.
How Is a Currency Conversion Calculated?
A currency converter uses an exchange rate to calculate the converted amount. In a simple example, if 1 USD equals 280 PKR, then 100 USD would be approximately 28,000 PKR using that rate.
The actual displayed result can change when the exchange rate changes.
What Are the Main Parts of a Currency Converter?
A typical currency converter includes an amount, a source currency, a target currency and an exchange rate.
The source currency is the currency you are converting from, while the target currency is the currency you want to convert into.
Why Can Conversion Results Change?
Exchange rates can change over time. Different banks, exchanges and data providers may also display different rates.
Because of this, an online conversion result should generally be treated as an informational estimate rather than a guaranteed amount.
Example of Currency Conversion
Suppose the available exchange rate is 1 EUR = 320 PKR. A conversion of 50 EUR would produce an approximate value of 16,000 PKR using that example rate.
This example is for explanation only. Actual exchange rates can be different and can change over time.
